Self-Adhesive Neoprene Sponge Rubber
Material:
Our expanded neoprene/EPDM closed-cell sponge strip is a fantastic multi-purpose product. It has a self-adhesive backing (peel & stick) for a mess free application.
With a closed-cell structure, these strips are waterproof and have good resistance to air, UV light, acids and weathering. The compressible sponge consistency makes it soft and flexible, giving it excellent sealing properties.
Application will work best on a surface that is smooth, clean, dry and free of any oil or grease.
Uses:
This product is used in multiple industries, and around the home. Some examples of use include:
• Weathering seal
• Seal for windows and doors
• Sound damping
• Vibration damping
• Non-slip applications
• Bumping protection
• Cushioning
• For use in caravan, boat, car, truck, van or trailer
Sizes:
Our neoprene sponge strips are available in the following sizes as standard, but we are always happy to try and accommodate custom size requests.
Thickness: 1.5mm to 25mm
Width: 10mm to 100mm
Appearance:
Our neoprene sponge rubber is black in colour. The removable wax backing paper will either be white or yellow.
The strip will usually be delivered as a coiled roll.
Manufacture:
In a nutshell, the manufacturing process of neoprene sponge begins with a mix of raw materials, forming a rubber compound. A foaming agent is added and the mixture is then heated, causing the release of gas bubbles.
These gas bubbles cause the mixture to expanded, creating a cellular sponge structure. Once cured, this cellular structure gives the rubber it’s compressible sponge consistency.
Despite being full of tiny bubbles, our neoprene sponge rubber has a closed-cell structure, meaning it will not absorb water.
